All About Layering: 7 Skin Method

Cleansing, toning, and moisturizing are all essential parts of a perfect skincare routine. But have you heard of the 7 Skin Method? The 7 Skin Method is a Korean beauty technique that is loved by skincare fans throughout the world, thanks to TikTok for bringing it back. To sum it up, it involves applying up to seven layers of toner in between cleanser and moisturizer - yes 7 layers!

What is the 7 Skin Method?

What exactly is the 7 Skin Method, you ask? Well, to put it in simpler terms, the number seven is the number of times you put a toner or a lightweight, watery essence on your face. In Korea, toners are commonly referred to as “skins”, meaning the literal translation for the 7 Skin Method is the “7 Toner Method”.

While it does sound easy, you’re probably wondering what are the benefits of ditching your entire routine for just one product.

Try to think back to the times you received a facial and the glow your skin had from the estheticians' techniques. This seven-skin method cleverly tries to help your skin drink much of the toner or essence than it normally would, by letting it soak it up one thin layer at a time. However, by doing this seven times, the skin is meant to be getting an increased and healthy amount of ingredients, which may end up giving your skin that hydrating and glowy complexion.

How do I do the 7 Skin Method?

I know — seven layers. It sounds like a lot of time and products. But trust, it works, which makes it perfect. Not to mention, for those who have dry skin, this method will make your skin feel radiant and plump up!

Step 1: Cleanse your face as you normally would.

Step 2: After you have cleansed your face, make sure you pat dry while still leaving your skin slightly damp! So it’s best if you apply the first layer of toner when your face is slightly damped as compared to being completely dry. You can either use a cotton pad or your hands.

Step 3: Repeat six more times! You can use your other serums, as your skin will be more willing to absorb it, or you can use a moisturizer.
