K-Trend: Jello Skin

Jello Skin

The latest trend to hit K-Beauty is on all things Jello Skin, and in this blog post, BAZZAAL is going to teach you how to achieve plump and bouncy skin.

Jello Skin, popularized by one of our favorites Ava Lee, is all about achieving the look of elastic skin that bounces back with every touch. Similar to the mochi-like skin that we have when we are babies, the purpose of trying to achieve Jello Skin is to bring enough hydration to the skin so that it looks plush and youthful.

Similar to glass skin, this trend focuses more on giving your skin enough nutrition so that it is naturally firm, yet bouncy to the touch like jelly.

Collagen is the most abundant protein found in the body and is found within our bones, muscles, and skin. Collagen levels are also a key indicator of the fullness, elasticity, and retention of the skin stretching. However, as we age these levels begin to decrease, which can lead to the appearance of wrinkles and skin sagging. While there is no way or product to replace the collagen in your skin, we can use products to increase the production of collagen and cell turn-over rate.

For brightness and collagen production, we can use actives like retinol and chemical exfoliants (AHA & BHA), then to bring hydration and plumpness back we can use hyaluronic acid. The reason why some products use different sizes of hyaluronic acid is that different molecular weights can reach different layers of the skin. This is why the more kinds of hyaluronic acid the better! Peptides and amino acids are also a great way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and can even moisture levels in the skin. The great thing about these actives is most of the time you should be able to see an immediate plump and brightening effect on the skin, that gets even better with continuous use.

JUMISO Pore-Rest Wipe Toner Pad

This toner pad improves skin texture, by removing excess sebum and dead skin cells. These toner pads are vegan, fragrance-free, and suitable for all skin types. The key ingredients are AHA, BHA, and PHA which is a mixture of fat-soluble and water-soluble exfoliating ingredients that gives glowy skin.

ABIB Gummy sheet mask Hyaluron Sticker

This mask works to promote skin elasticity by using Triple Hyaluronic acid, Blue Agave Extract, and a lightweight water-based ampoule to give the skin a refreshed feeling.

It is important to note that all of these should not be used all at once, and instead should be rotated based on how well your skin can handle some of these ingredients. As far as preventative measures, the best way to protect your skin and prevent future damage to your skin cells is by using Vitamin-C for antioxidant benefit, and sunscreen to prevent UV damage. When used together, Vitamin-C also increases the efficacy of sun protection.

Sollalla Multi Vitamin C Serum

This powerful serum is packed with antioxidants and nutrients that visibly brightens and firms the skin. Also helps with regenerating damaged skin while reducing fine lines and improves signs of age-delaying.

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel

This sunscreen contains Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, and Centella Asiatica to moisturize the skin while protecting it against the sun.

Diet is also a key part of both anti-aging, and maintaining Jello Skin, so make sure that you are consuming a variety of antioxidants and adaptogens that can help with sensitivity, and skin stress. You can get these from fruit, mushrooms, and herbal teas like burdock, just to name a few. Antioxidants can also work to fight against environmental stressors, while adaptogens can improve moisture retention. Along with this make sure to drink plenty of water, because hydration is important both inside and out.
